I found shalom through the Messiah

One day the light bulb went off for me when I realized that I lacked shalom. I didn’t have peace in my life, and I wasn’t the only one! We’re all looking for shalom.

I searched for answers in traditional Judaism, Eastern religions, secularism, hedonism…you name it…I tried everything. Then one day a friend challenged me to read a chapter of one of our most famous Jewish prophets — Isaiah. I began reading the Book of Isaiah and the words jumped off the page and gripped my heart!

“But he was pierced through for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our PEACE fell upon him, and by his scourging we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

I was astonished to read that God sent someone to be punished for my sins so that I can experience true shalom in my heart. Like any good, skeptical, Jewish New Yorker raised in a Jewish home, I checked the Hebrew and found it matched my English translation.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. I realized that God loved me and wanted me to experience true shalom in my life. I kept reading the words of Isaiah 53 where the prophet describes a perfect man, sent by God to live among us and die as an atonement for our sins and bring us peace. This realization that God loved me so much to send the Messiah to die for my sins moved my heart. I wanted to know this one who would die for me!

I began reading the New Testament and came to understand that Yeshua—Jesus—was the only one who perfectly fit Isaiah’s description. Yeshua was the prophesied Messiah of Israel! I told God I believed that Yeshua is the Messiah and that I would follow him, and immediately my heart was filled with shalom in a way that I had never experienced before.

. . . And, I’m not the only one! Many of our people have found shalom through faith in Yeshua the Messiah. Don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself. For more info visit ifoundshalom.com today.
